Programs & Events

Thoughtful, engaging, purpose.

Diversified approaches for maximum reach & compassion.

At JINA Alliance, the breadth of our Research requires an equally broad approach to programs and events.

This means we identify opportunities to advocate for human rights, democracy and global security through means that can engage many audiences, such as written analysis, legal mechanisms, music, film and spoken word performances, research articles, art exhibits, government relations, psychotherapy programs, refugee support, public awareness campaigns, digital communications, universities and teaching, United Nations and international NGO participation, and networking with other nonprofits, think tanks and stakeholders.

In Honor of Toomaj Salehi

July - October, 2025, in Bangkok, Thailand

In collaboration with Advisory Board member S. [name withheld for security], a prominent human rights activist, JINA Alliance is proud to announce a collaborative art exhibition at the Bangkok Art and Cultural Centre, titled "Constellation of Complicity."

The exhibit will feature spaces dedicated to multiple groups/countries suffering from human rights violations and a lack of democratization, including Hong Kong, Iran, Myanmar, Russia, Syria, Tibet, and the Uyghur people.

The largest space of the exhibition is reserved for Iran, and fully dedicated to rapper and political dissident Toomaj Salehi. It will feature graffiti art by artists Karla Mohtashemi (Washington State, U.S.) and Shahrzad Orang (Sydney, Australia), as well as video streaming of four of Toomaj's music videos (Bazmande/Survivor, Soorakh Moosh/Mousehole, Shallagh/Whip and Normal/Normal).

Toomaj Salehi is an Iranian rapper who rose to prominence for his daring protest songs regarding the social degradation, human rights violations, and corruption of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In July 2023, he was sentenced to six years in prison for participating in the 2022 Woman Life Freedom protects. On April 24, 2024, he was sentenced to death. The death sentence was overturned in June 2024 following a massive global outcry. He continued to be jailed and tortured until his release on bail in December 2024. He remains in Iran, and at continued risk of harm by the Islamic Republic occupying Iran.

During his time in Islamic Republic prison, Toomaj Salehi spent over 500 days in solitary confinement.

Toomaj remains one of the most beloved symbols of resistance by Iranians worldwide. For his bravery, he is widely known as the "Son of Iran."

Toomaj is a recipient of the Index on Censorship's 2023 Freedom of Expression Art Award, which honors those who have had significant impact fighting censorship anywhere in the world. He was also awarded the 2024 Vaclav Havel Center "Disturbing the Peace" Award. In January 2025, he was named the #1 most influential person in music for 2025 by Spin Magazine.

It is our profound privilege to participate in honoring Toomaj Salehi.
